West Hawaii County Band Monthly Concert

The West Hawaii County Band will present an hour of free band music in its monthly Free Concert Series. Come enjoy the band playing music selected from its extensive repertoire, including; marches, show tunes, jazz favorites, the classics and Hawaiian traditional tunes. Each monthly concert is an hour in length presented by musicians from our own community. The West Hawaii County Band is supported by the Department of Parks and Recreation, County of Hawaii and the West Hawaii County Band Friends. The band presents monthly concerts throughout the year. In addition the band can be heard at numerous civic events such as the Kona Coffee Festival, The International Ironman championships, King Kamehameha Day Parade and Christmas parades and concerts in both Waimea and Kailua-Kona. The West Hawaii County Band is a unit of the Hawai’i County Band which performs in the Hilo area and is conducted by Paul Arceo. The West Hawaii County Band also performs on the lanai of the Hulihee Palace regularly. The music performed when the band is “The Palace Band” is largely Hawaiian traditional music arranged for the band by William Bud Dant. Dant was a retired Hollywood arranger and composer who live in Kailua-Kona in the late 1970s and conducted the Palace Band.
